Norwich Union promotes planning tool with World Cup viral

Online marketing agency Harvest Digital has created a Norwich Union branded World Cup themed game to be sent to Financial Advisors on a viral email.Designed to promote Norwich Union’s online planning tool, Forecast, the game encourages participants to allocate a virtual £100,000 across the 32 teams in the World Cup and compete against other advisors with a member get member referral scheme.  There is a prize of a £3,500 holiday for the winning entrant who at the end of the contest has the largest portfolio worth.  There is also a runner up prize of a holiday worth £1,500.

Designed, integrated and executed by Harvest Digital, the ‘Football Forecast Competition 2006’ features a branded microsite that links to a database of the World Cup fixtures and a league table of entrants, as well as a clickthough to a landing page about the Forecast product.  Entrants are asked to spread the £100,000 as they see fit across the 32 teams in the Cup with goals scored and games won by lower ranked teams counting for more return than goals scored by the higher ranked teams. Participants receive a confirmation email after entering their details, email address and team name, and then alert emails are sent out after every round showing their position, based on their portfolio worth, in the league table of entrants. The initial email will be sent to Norwich Union’s database of financial advisors and a referral email can be completed by them to invite other people to play.  Sales Consultants from Norwich Union will also compete.
