the disposable memory projectFebruary 12, 2009 by gemmabardsley

Along with postcrossing I have just got involved with Matthew Knights brilliant disposable memory project. I carried the same disposable camera in my bag, throughout my final year at uni and still remember the excitement when I finally had it developed.

So when I heard about the disposable memory project I applied for a camera straight away. And here it is.

M favourite part of the project

We think that digital isn’t always best. sometimes taking longer to do something gives us a warm and fuzzy feeling. taking part in this project, which may take years to complete, will hopefully give you that feeling too.

Love it. I just need to decide where to leave my camera now. Will update once I have dropped it off :)

It’s In The PostFebruary 10, 2009 by gemmabardsley

I got my first postcard from postcrossing this weekend. Very exciting. I can’t believe I didn’t know about this project sooner. Rubbish. Sending a card/letter once a week is on my list of (I think its 53 things at the moment) to do this year, so hopefully this will help me stick to it. There really is something amazing about personal post. Its all bank statements and phone bills normally.

Also, check out the ‘HELLO’ :)

SNOW DAYFebruary 2, 2009 by gemmabardsley

GOOD

Very happy I picked this Monday, out of all the possible Mondays to book off work. Now I need a sledge, a big hill and some people to go sledging with.

At about 12am last night, after I got back from the pub I took my new slr out for some cool snow pictures. But my stupid old laptop has no storage and wont let me upload the pictures. Grr. I did take some with my iphone after I left the pub, earlier in the evening though! :)

Once I have all my cards back (I hate pick pockets, or I should say bag pockets) I will give Apple all my money and be able to really start playing around with my new camera and laptop! (Although, I will have no choice as I will have no money left to leave the house. hmm.) Time for a cuppa.

P.S: Why is it, that on your day off you ALWAYS wake up early?

GreedJanuary 23, 2009 by gemmabardsley

Greed

I only come across Francesco Vezzoli’s work recently and I love it. Some of the work he has produced include the fake trailer for a Remake of Gore Vidal’s Caligula. The imaginary remake features an incredible A-list cast including Helen Mirren, Milla Jovovich Courtney Love and Vezzoli himself.

His newest project is a short film ‘Greed’ which spun form the Ralph Lauren advert featuring Laetitia Casta. It features both Natalie Portman and Michelle Williams. It mirrors the strategy and style of a perfume advertising campaign and adds to his other work exploring the power of contemporary media culture. The short film isn’t available yet but you can see a 30 second clip on Dazed Digital. Now I just need to get a cheap flight to Rome for his opening. Hmm.

I hate umbrellas especially in London.
Getting to work is like an obstacle course and they break all the time anyway.
