Egg Drop **UPDATED**June 12, 2009 by pibbers
This morning's breakfast club (hosted by the ever punctual Mr Webb) was the 'Egg Drop' challenge.
In true Blue Peter style, armed only with some sticky backed plastic and some A4 paper, the Breakfasteers were required to 'design' a way to protect a fragile raw egg from dashing it's brains out on the concrete when it is unceremoniously dropped out of the 2nd floor window today at 5:30pm.
Here are our contestants:
Ladies and Gentlemen, please place your bets.... (all forms of social media vote accepted).
***UPDATE***NEW ENTRY***
This just in - Kev has submitted an entry to the Great Friday Egg Drop. It's called 'The Cambridge' (for the purposes of scale, it is about 3 times the size of the 'Pigs May Fly'.

Another advocate of the 'user centred approach'....March 3, 2009 by pibbers
...this time in the the form of Harper Lee's Atticus Finch
"'First of all,' he said, 'if you can learn a simple trick, Scout, you'll get along better with all kinds of folks. You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view-'
'Sir?'
'-until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.'"
From 'To Kill a Mockingbird. First published in 1960.

A beautiful little animation created by Maya Design that helps you think about what 'information' actually is.

Woolworths certainly haven't made their URL redundant!
They have put up a form with which to capture some contact details that they can use for distributing e-newsletter type things but they have also included a comments box and invited us all to say what we liked and disliked about the store.
I think this is a fab idea...no point in wasting that digital space and they'll probably get some useful feedback from it.
Now what to write? "Excessively high chav to civilian ratio". Maybe that was just the Reading branch?

Who on Earth would use this website? Why would you want to "Simply log in after every time you have sex and fill out a few simple fields." such as "How long did it last?"?
Why not develop an iPhone app so if it is really rubbish, you can log in during the sex and while away a few minutes.
The internet is good for many things...this is not one of them.

Lets play a word association game, where you musn't pause, hesitate, repeat a word, or say a word I don't like... otherwise you get a bash on the head like this...or like this...the one with the most bruises loses.... look at each other and go Bleugh! Look at everyone at home and go Bleugh! Everyone at home look at them and go Bleugh!
Ready:
wedding > bride > dress > silk > beautiful > designer > quality > modern > sexy > expensive...you get the idea.
Why then has it taken so long for me to find a wedding dress shop that reflects these values to provide the customer with an experience worthy of the dresses it is selling.
Morgan Davies in Hitchin is a beautiful shop with Kartell Ghost chairs, stylish flocked wallpaper, a chandelier and a chaise for your bridesmaid/mother to recline gracefully on. The staff were friendly, attentive and dressed in simple modern clothes. This is what I expected the 'wedding dress shopping experience' to be like. Alas, I was sadly disillusioned.

It was (thankfully) worlds apart from some of the other shops I have ventured into that have been cold (I'm in my undies here!!), tatty, retro (as in Granny's living room not retro chic) with rude staff that tell you off for taking notes or force you to wear white gloves (I'm the customer here!!). Can you imagine walking into Selfridges and finding it had been refitted by someone who thought old beige carpet and gross floral wallpaper was the key to a luxurious experience (without any tongue in cheek).
Now don't even get me started on the websites for these places.....hall of shame coming soon!
